    So it appears the majority says pistol while a few say revolver. I'm a very analytical person so I'm gonna have to weigh the pros and cons of each for this particular situation. I have a little side by side experiment planned for tomorrow evening so I'll let you know what I ultimately decide!

        pis·tol
        noun
        a small firearm designed to be held in one hand.
        synonyms: revolver, gun, handgun, sidearm;

        re·volv·er
        noun
        a pistol with revolving chambers enabling several shots to be fired without reloading.

        I never get far from my vehicle so I carry a Taurus Judge and an STI Perfect 10 (10mm).

          I carry my Taurus Judge on me when I bow hunt. You have a wide selection of Ammo available to you with this gun.

              I'm never in the woods without my Glock 10mm on my hip.

                ^^this^^ it's my EDC anyways so I never leave home without it.... Ever... Had a scare with a mountain lion 3 years ago and that changed me from I sometimes carry when I'm hunting to now I always carry even if I'm rifle hunting.

                  My second choice would be a S&W .500 magnum

                    Carry what you shoot best. You might want to hit what you shoot at.

                      i carry depending on wether...this weekend was hot , didnt wear jeans so i didnt wear a belt, stuck my lcp in the pocket ...i refer a revolver you can throw 2 snake shot in and a few heavy bullets...leave it on the good rounds, for a rattler you have enough time to open the cylinder and move it to rat shot.

                        I would carry what you are comfortable with.
