    Gun Safes

I am getting to the point where I really need a quality gun safe. I need something that will hold at least 20 long guns and a few pistols. Anybody an expert on these?

Fort Knox is the best from my experience. Lifetime Warranty. Compare fire protection with others and see what you find out.

Get the biggest you can afford. It will fill up!

      Good luck,

      Alan

Not an expert but buy as big as you can!!! I bought a Winchester from Sams and have been happy. The same company that makes them is located in South Ft Worth and you can sometimes get a deal from the showroom.

If you care, keep an eye out for where they are made and not just where the company is located ( a lot are made in china) . As NTex pointed out the granite's & winchesters are made in Ft. Worth Tx.

Because of this I have a Winchester.

i bought one that was suppose to be a 20+ gun safe. you get an ar-15 or two in there as well as a couple of scoped rifles it wont hold but about a third of that. just keep that in mind, bigger is better.

check out lonestar gunsafes in Houston. They display several models at most of the big gun shows and rodeo's ect... across the state.

I have two granites and they are good safes. When it says 20 long guns just imagine 20 single shot shotguns. With bolt handles and other stuff its tuff to fit that many different guns in there. So buy bigger.

Thats the truth, If you have a scope it takes the place of two slots, if you have an AR with the mag in it two slots, and the longer barreled shotguns have to go through the storage hole on the top shelf.
Also if you take the door off make sure you do not lose the ball bearing and it is a pain to get the door make on by yourself!!!

If it says 20 gun, really means 10, 30 gun really means 15. unless they are cricket 22s! By the biggest you can afford. Just bought a new canon from Academt and very happy with it.

Well after seeing my buddies "Liberty" safe take the beatin it did in his house fire. I’m sold. He is steppin up to a higher fire protection next time, and I plan to do the same. But the safe did its job for the most part and saved a ton of valuable...irreplaceable...guns

I have a 42" Browning safe that will hold 20 pretty well (just have to watch the scopes). I had to take off door jams to get it in closet. Very heavy so make sure you have help and a BIG dolly when you get ready to move it.
