Wow just wow! I'm beginning to wonder why I do it!

I've been up since 3 am working serving warrants and beating the streets. I just sat down for a cup of coffee at my usual mom and pop gas station. A guy walks in and walks past me as I was sitting down enjoying my coffee break. As he passes me he says, "must be a easy job getting to sit there". I just smile and nod and let it go way side. When he comes out of the restroom he says, "hey why don't you just go kill you a black guy, and get on the news!" I just look at him and say, "excuse me?" He then says, "yea since all y'all do is shoot to kill people, why can't y'all just shoot to wound them or taser people?" I just politely said, "sir that is not how we train, we train to stop the immediate threat to our lives or the lives of others. Now with that said I understand your concerns and opinions, but I would like to sit here and enjoy my coffee and watch the sunrise in peace before my break ends". He muttered something under his breath and walked out. It's people like that who make good cops give up this job. Rant over hope everyone had a wonderful day!

Well if I was in the mom and pop gas station and heard the guy talk to you like that, you might have to arrest me. Dude was way out of line and a jerk. As for giving up jobs I have wondered a lot about that... Would you rather be a good cop and get Cr@ped on... Or go private sector of something if you have the experience and all of a sudden your not a "pig" any more. Grandpa was police officer and retired as chief. I've talked to grandma and she says she was glad he got out when he did. She didn't think he could take the way the job has changed in the modern world.

That fellow has a serious hate-on. Hard to understand why some folks feel the way they do, but I betcha there's a really weird story behind it.

Just another reason why I never could have done what you do - I'd have been the one getting thrown in jail - for assault and battery.... if not worse.
