Two hogs.... one arrow...... would you...

    TAKE THE SHOT??????

No I didn't do it, would I? I don't know, Sounds challenging, and curious, and possibly a hunt to remember but just don't know if I could take the shot. I've never taken a shot without knowing what is beyond my target, and don't know If I would go for two in one just b/c they are hogs. No, I would not even consider this on any other animal, should hogs be different?

Is it ethical? What are your thoughts?

Yes, I know just b/c it's a hog doesn't mean to hunt them non-ethically or does it? Yes, every hunter is different and has different ethics. How do you feel about it.

Have you done it before and have video? please post.

Johnny I did it once on accident. I shot a hog right behind the shoulder as it was quartering away. The carbon arrow bent came out and hit a boar right behind the ear dropping him instantly. The other pig ran off about 70 yards. Is it ethical? I get paid to get rid of hogs,,by trapping ,shooting or whatever means it takes.I dont waste meat though.A dead pig is a good pig

The real question is would you have enough energy and sharp enough broadhead after the pass through. I doubt it. Depends on the size of the hog and if you're willing to do the tracking. And a whole heck of a lot of other things to factor in. The thought did enter my mind the other day though. I had to pass...

                On a hog, YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

                The hogs need to go.

Ranchers and farmers, drop as many as they can, wishing they had a machine gun and then let the coyotes have them.

I've seen it done on accident a couple of times but I'd never do it on purpose, not even on a hog. Hog deserves a quick clean kill same as any other animal. Hogs are hard to kill even when everything is perfect - taking a chance like this will in most cases only get you a lost hog - possibly two!
A low percentage shot in my opinion. I wouldn't take it.

We had a hunter a few weeks ago that tried this. Thank goodness he missed. Of course this is the same guy that watched a hunting video in camp and wondered why the hunters didn't take neck shots on some of the animals!!!!

                  We get all kinds!

A friend of mine did it last year on accident. He shot about a 150lb sow and the arrow went through her and stuck into a smaller 40lb hog. We actually found the smaller hog first. The arrow stuck in him and when we skinned him out he had a x on his heart about the size of a pencil eraser. Not much penetration but that's all you need when you hit the heart.

Trailboss said it well. Even though they are hogs, I would not try it.

Nope. I'm with TrailBoss. ALL animals deserve a quick kill. Ethics are ethics too. If you're willing to fudge here, you're probably willing to fudge elsewhere... and that's not ethics or responsible. Being as you're asking the question, you know you already have the answer in your noggin!

Now how about taking one out on the fringes of the bunch and hoping they'll mill around enough to get another shot after a bit? Still gets two peegs, ups the hunting experience, and takes two more out of the gene pool! That's the way I'd go for.

Definitely. Just like I'd trap them. Poison would be well within reason if it was targeted enough and wouldn't harm what eventually consumed them.

My son did it on these two:

There are reasons there's different rules for game animals.

I did it about 4-5 years ago on some 30 pounders. Killed 2 out of the 3 I hit!!
Was not really on purpose. I used to have the video but I think it was lost when my hard drive crashed last year. I'll have to look.

I don't see anything wrong with doing it on purpose. Hell I would use hand grenades out at our farm if I could. The hogs have destroyed our pasture land!!! I don't care how they die as long as they die.
