    neighbor dog problems

I need some advice guys, we've lived at our house for over 8 years. about maybe 6-9months ago new neighbors moved in next door. They have a full grown lab that charges our small mini schnauzer pups every chance it gets, they installed an underground pet fence right on the property line and our yard on that side is only a couple feet wide due to us being in a cul-de-sac, they also put up a fence but the dog squeezes through the gate getting into the front yard. I'm sick of having to worry about this stupid dog getting ours every time we take them out, we used to let them out without leashes to greet family members when they get home but cannot do that any more. I'm usually carrying something when I take the dogs out and have almost pulled on it once due to how close he got to getting one of my dogs. I also have a 100lb pitbull but he's so lazy I guess the other dog doesn't even faze him, he actually got out one time and was in their yard and did nothing to their dog, their dog only seems intent on attacking the ones that are 1/4 his size. Just now he charged my dog again and I charged him and he started to get aggressive towards me before fleeing back into his backyard through the gate. What are my options here? if he attacks my dog but is still in his front yard can I take action? or will I probably be the one in trouble? I found an old Co2 BB gun pistol I will start taking out there but with everything he has done so far i'm ready to string him up dead. I am an animal lover, but cannot stand dogs like that. He wants to try to get my 10lb dogs every time he sees them but puts his tail between his legs when he sees my pit. I need some advice, isn't their front yard somewhat public property? I mean if they were in their front yard tanning naked they would get in trouble for public indecency right? doesn't their dog have to be on a leash if its in public? sorry for the rant I just need answers before I get myself in trouble.

Even dogs that haven't been hit fear a stick.

    Bear spray also works great.

You can even use it on the dog, however for maximum effect spray the owner right in the chest.

I think of the dog stays in his own yard and attacks your dogs once they go into your neighbors yard i don't think you have a leg to stand on. I could be wrong, sucks to be in your situation though.

get online and order this today. carry it with you. If your life or your dogs life is in danger...use it.
Ive seen it work on bears so pretty sure it will work on a dog.

        also I would
        1) get a small notebook and start documenting everything..Time date etc.
        2) Have a talk with the neighbor in a kind way. Carry your iPhone in your front pocket and record conversation. Last time I checked this is legal as long as one person is aware of recording.
        3) any threat of injury needs to be reported.

lastly talking one on one first with your neighbor is always the best first step. Give the person opportunity to do the right thing. Good luck

Have you talked to the neighbors. It sounds like they have made attempts to put up fencing and underground fence, and may be open to other suggestions. If I were the neighbor however, I would demand you keep your dog off my lawn. Also, be careful with the leash law comment, because you don't put yours on a leash either, as you stated.

Its the only bear spray I use. I know the guy who was attacked by a Griz who developed it. Its pure stuff! and works. I always carry it in the mts....always.

Have you talked to your neighbors about fixing the fence so he can't get out?

Bear spray listed will spray a powerful thick straight stream 30 feet away. Wasp spray...not so much.

Do you live in the City Limits,if so animal control and report their is a aggressive dog that gets out and confronts you and your dog. But make sure yours are on a leash and not on their property. All you have to do is have animal control around when you have your dogs on a walk. Most Cities won't tolerate aggressive dogs, plus most Cities need revenue.

I think there is a leash law for montgomery county. We don't take the dogs out without leash anymore. And I wouldn't have the slightest problem with their dog pacing the property line as long as it wasn't aggressive. When that dog shows aggression my little dogs are going to do what they are supposed to and try to protect me from the threat. My dogs are not a threat to theirs, theirs is a threat to mine. And I will do whatever I have to, to protect my dogs if he gets his mouth on them whether my yard or his, you shouldn't have an aggressive dog that can roam the front yard. Our cat has also gone missing recently which is not normal at all and can only suspect their dog did it.

hot dog soaked in anti freeze. just kidding, but maybe shooting him with a paintball gun everytime he gets in your yard. The owner will eventually get tired of cleaning him up and hopefully secure the dog better.

Tried that before with a different dog, another lab who would literally roam the whole street and bark at out dogs through our window in our yard. Problem was they let it out only at 5pm when animal control was closed. So they told us to take pics and log it, that dog is gone though no idea where he went I think he was old.

i would have EBH come over with the economy size bear spray that he uses all the time and stand guard on the front lawn. That should do it.
