Quality - I know several ranches that will not run a camera that is not a Reconyx
WITH THAT SAID they wouldn't own an ice chest that doesn't say YETI on them either. They are quality products I am sure, but there is no way they are actually $200-$300 more quality than the rest of the quality cameras on the market IMO

At 6 times the cost of a good trail cam I would rather have 6 spots covered than 1. I guess if I had a money tree I might buy one but other than that it seems like a waste to me. I have some Moultrie M80s that are 6 years old and haven't missed a beat that were less than $100 each. I think lots of people buy them just because they are priced high. People say all the time "you get what you pay for" but I don't see it with these things. I did buy a cuddeback one time that was $450 but I learned quickly that price doesn't mean quality always.

Got tired of spending 100-150 on different cameras that seemed to work when they wanted to.

Huge fan of their cameras. I am currently using the HC600 and love it. Now I have sent it back twice because of the day light and dawn senor was messing up. Fixed it both times out of warranty $30. I've had this camera like 4 years. Trigger speed is super face and the different configuration setups work nicely for me. Love the Rapid Fire setting.

Back in January I talked to the Reconyx's President and he showed me a new camera that has not hit the market yet, but it will be the best of the market once it's available. IMHO.

We've had them all. And Had nothing but problems. Not working, work one season and quit, etc. These have lasted us 4 years and always work and battery life is great. I do currently own two primos and just bought a browning that are doing good so far, but it's only been a year. We shall see if they hold up.

Yes you do - me! Lol!
I use them almost exclusively and they DO provide me more pictures than any camera I've used, they have been 100% trouble free for 2 years (way better than other high end cameras I've used over the years) and the battery life is awesome- especially for the number of pictures.
Are they "necessary?" No. They're a luxury that are worth it if you can afford to run them. It's just like rifles or bows - do you NEED a Remington 700 Sendero SFII or a Zeiss scope or a brand new, top of the line bow to kill deer? No. But they CAN make things easier, if you can afford them.
Fortunately, I don't have to pay much for my Reconyx cameras because I couldn't afford them otherwise. But I WOULD buy them off the shelf if they were in my budget. I would NOT, on the other hand, buy less cameras than I think I needed, just to own Reconyx cameras - as good as they are, one Reconyx is not a substitute for 2 working cheaper cameras. I will say that I read all sorts of threads on here where people gripe about their cameras, especially cameras breaking; but I don't know many people complaining about their Reconyx cameras. There IS something to be said about dependability - and it's addition to the 'value' of an item.

I have 4. I have a closet full of every other camera made. I used to subscribe to the idea of buying cheaper cameras believing... 'if they only last a couple of years it's Ok cause they cost less.' Not any more. From my experience Reconyx are of much higher quality, unbelievable battery life and I can count on them working every time. Worth every penny of the price for me.
