This is discouraging hearing about allb y'alls PPs with no drawing.. at $100+ a year for me and my buddy for what we enter, could be an expensive hunt if I have to wait 20 years to get any drawing
I see what you're saying, but you need to look at the application fees from a different perspective also. Think about this, if there wasn't any fees for the public draw hunts there wouldn't be any public draw hunts. All of the non-refundable fees goes directly back into the program/towards maintaining the public land itself. So even if you don't get drawn your money is not being wasted .

This.I just lookat it as a donation to TPWD.If I get drawn it's a bonus.
Yeah between the APH permit, super combo, all the app fees, several entries into the Big Time Texas Hunts, I figure I donate a few hundred dollars every year to TPWD. I'm happy to do that, and never expect to draw much. There's really only 3 or 4 hunts I care to draw anyway.
Of course, then you read about the state taking your hard earned money that you sent to TPWD, and they divert it elsewhere.
In over 20 years, I have probably been skunked and not drawn anything at all maybe 5 times. We put in for hunts that have the best draw odds rather than hunts that are the most sought after, typically.
I'm good with the fees.. I'm just rambling. I know my chance will come, I can't afford a lease for m.d. and all the running back and forth through the year that entails so the draw gives me something to look forward
My son and I were drawn for the alligator management hunt at Neches/Dam B. It's a rare night archery or snare hunt. We have a suitable boat and have been on B.A. steinhagen before in the daylight but not at night. Anybody know a bow fishing guide that works that lake?
I've been drawn 10 times in 10 years but some years I got drawn for more than one hunt. Last year I got drawn for Mule deer archery and WT archery for the same week. I don't know what will happen this year. There are some hunts that if you show up as a standbye they will let you hunt.

Yeah, that is part of it also. You can't apply for GDE at Chaparral and expect to get drawn on that often (or at all).
You got drawn for the hardest one though. I always like looking at your avatar.
