I rolled a nuclear hot pot of crawfish one Saturday around noon and then proceeded to stay out all day doing yard work without a shirt. Needless to say, I cooked my back and was sweating out the cayenne later that evening. By 9 pm I was in tears, couldn't sit still. Showered, scratched, screamed into pillows until 2-3am. This was the single most excruciating feeling ever. Its the F5 of pain. Never had a name for it. Glad I do now.

To the OP I honestly don't know what your talking about. Did you get sunburned?

I feel your pain. Been there and done that...once. It was about five years ago, and I remember the pain like it was yesterday. I literally wanted to claw my skin off on my chest it hurt so much. I swam for maybe an hour in the middle of the day with no sunscreen and paid for it dearly for over a week. I've never been so burnt before. Nothing I did made it stop hurting. Just took time to heal.

Yes, I now do yard work in long sleeve and jeans. I used be concerned about having a matching tan with my hot wife. Not any more! That itch is so bad. I was a butcher at the time I was not wise. The tip of a 14 inch butcher knife is greatness as a back scratcher. Felt orgasmic. No antihistamine would calm it down.

I find ice cold aloe vera feels awesome for this pain.

Nope. Google "sun poisoning" and you'll find all sorts of new definitions for pain. I'm fair skinned and have had my share of scorchers yet somehow managed to avoid it. My red headed daughters on the other hand have both suffered through this and were absolutely miserable. I think this pretty much cured them of their desires for the tan that their body's are not genetically capable of except in small dots. Basically, it's a reaction to a really bad sun burn.

I wish I would have seen this post yesterday, I make body butter and it takes the sting and heat out of burns so I would like to see how or if it works for this.....
                      Glad your feeling better

                        Well.....

5 layers of sunscreen over a 3.5 hour period still didn't help while floating...

Praying like a SOB it doesn't turn to hells itch again....

If so I at least know how to treat it this time and hopefully its sub 48 hours....

I usually tan pretty easy but got a sunburn one time and for about 6 hours the skin on my stomach was itching so bad I wanted to rip it off.

Missed this thread the first go around. I've only experienced this hell once about 15 years ago. The wife and I decided we wouldn't wear any sun screen and just get a "base" tan on the top deck of the ship on the first day of a cruise to the Caribbean. Big freakin mistake! Let me tell you...there's something total different about the sun's rays in the Caribbean...way more intense. Only stayed out about 30 minutes and by that evening I was the most miserable human being on the planet!! I can confirm it's one of the most unpleasant experiences imaginable. My wife was finally able to locate some blue aloe vera pain relieving gel and I pretty much bathed in that stuff for 2 days. Absolutely RUINED 2 days of a 7 day cruise!

As the OP says it was self inflicted but I promise it will NEVER happen to me EVER EVER AGAIN!

I've never heard of that. Don't know that I've ever wore sunscreen but a few times in my life either so I have been really lucky I guess.
