Old-school, I turn the AC/Heat off prior to shut-down.

Nope. Whatever level it is when I turn it off, is the level In which it stays.

If it ever causes a problem I've got this wonderful new solution called a WARRANTY!

I turn the compressor off and leave the fan on until it blows warm air out of the vents. this way it dries any condensation build up and doesnt leave that stinky odor that you smell in older vehicles a/c. I have a 2007 and it doesnt have any smell to it what so ever.
