    Kayaking with gators?

My buddy wants me to go kayak fishing with him in the lake Jackson area.
He also showed me a picture of a gator sitting on the same bank that he wants to put in at. That just doesn't make me feel great about this trip.

Does anyone on here kayak in gator heavy water?

Should I be worried or not?

    I wouldn't worry about it.

Tree shaker. I never kayaked with alligators in the water. I don't think I would be too worried about it.

He's probably using you for "bait". You don't have to be the fastest kayak paddler on the lake, you just have to paddle faster then your buddy.

I duck hunted with em. Don't suppose floating in a yak would be any worse than wading through the water

I put in at the boat ramps by old the port of Liberty once. I got out into the middle of the channel and saw a gator 100 yards upstream that was every bit as big as my 12 foot kayak and I'm not one to exaggerate. I hugged the banks for the rest of the afternoon. Sobering experience knowing you aren't at the top of the food chain and way out of your element (no telling how deep the water was in the middle of the channel).

The waters around here are full of gators. We have swam and skied the same waters since we were kids and in my years I have never heard of anyone getting bit. I wouldn't worry about it a bit.

No big deal, same as the sharks in the salt. Go fishing and enjoy the experience!

Nothing to worry about. Alligators have gotten a far worse reputation as man eaters than they deserve. They're not like a crocodile, which truly are man eaters. I blame swamp people for sensationalizing their aggressiveness.

It would not scare me a bit for you to do it

Sharks, crocs, and gators in the water are my biggest fear, that being said I still wade fish and I'm still going kayaking.
I just might have a change of underwear in case I see one.

Dont fall out or keep a flopping fish in the water too long and youll be alright I would imagine.
