My wife has a VERY BAD habit of not locking her truck, with the garage remote inside it. It has been the source of some very heated arguments between us. Either she just doesn't care or secretly has some sort of demented way of thinking that nothing will happen to her. I just don't understand it. Just like she has some sort of aversion to putting gas in the truck and running it empty all the time. I've gotten in it twice in the last couple of weeks and the low fuel sensor was on, reset it and it showed 2 miles to empty. I was beyond po'd and told her that if she ever ran out of gas, DO NOT CALL ME TO COME GET YOU. And I mean it. Rant over, sorry for the hijack.

I hate hearing this stuff. but it's about time we start locking that garage door. And definitely looking more at getting a home video surveillance system....heard the one at Sam's (I think) was a solid system.

      Be safe!

I had some stuff jacked in Lubbock a couple of years ago from my unlocked pickup. I got lazy and forgot that there are POSs out there.

Most folks don't think twice about programming their home link button in their cars to open the garage door or leaving their garage remote clipped to the visor.

This is just inviting someone to at the very least gain access to your garage. Most folks also do not lock the door from the garage into their home either. Granted most of the home link buttons are disabled if the ignition is not on in the vehicle, but not all are and certainly not typical garage remotes.

I got rid of our garage remotes a long time ago and now have them on a fob on my key ring that opens my garage and arms/disarms my alarm system. My keys are always with me.

This. I made my wife take the remotes out and bought the key fob device for openeing the garage door. This way she still has a remote but it comes inside with her every night. Me i dont even have anything i use the remote keypad.

Unfortunately this is all too common during the summer. Once the kids get out of school this sort of thing ramps up.

That is HORRIBLE advice. Hornet spray is for killing hornets, a gun is for killing idiots who just broke into my house. If you don't have a gun then go get one. If you are short on cash then sell something and then go buy a gun.
If you are a pacifist and can't bring yourself to kill an intruder then fine, but you will die smelling like hornet spray.

I have my garage door on a light switch. When we go to bed we turn off switch so door can't be opened. Plus it's wired into alarm system. When we leave on vacation or for the weekend we always turn off switch.

                        I have 2 dogs & a gun.

Some one jacked my bend new push mower and my neighbors weed eater 2 weeks ago.

They came back last week and got my gas cans.
The one for the mower was a 5 gallon one, it was almost full. The other was a 2.5 gsllon one. It was mostly empty.

We now lock the car & house.
I'm fixing to load my bang stick. My bored been sitting on my table. Not sure how much deterrent that'll be....
