Houses broke in to

My son came home about 2:30 this morning and there were 3 cop cars three houses down from us. This afternoon my wife and I were going out and saw two of our neighbors standing outside. I stopped and asked if they knew why the cops were there. Travis says that there was an intruder in his house and the house across the street. He came down stairs and saw the guy and he ran. He couldn't catch him. They were going down the street and checking for unlocked cars. if the car was unlocked then they used the garage door opener to open the garage and the enter the house thru the door that most of us don't lock. the second house they took her purse and their liquor, meaning teenagers. The police found most of the things that were taken right in the trees of the woods by our house. I guess what i'm saying is be sure your car is locked and you door to the garage is locked. i have taken the remote from my truck now.

Folks getting brave going into houses with people home. Ive gotten in the habit of taking my remote out of my truck while we are on vacation. Probably a good idea to do it all the time. My wife's tahoe has a built in button programmed to the garage.

If your car has a pre-programmed button for the opener, and you don't have a way to turn it off, then unplug the opener inside the garage.

Thanks for the reminder to lock the garage door. I am guilty of that one. However, that's why I also have dogs. Some people these days have me wondering about my kids future

Someone tried to get in the front door at my moms house two weeks ago in the day time , Front screen door was locked and latched so they kicked it thinking it would just pop open , but kicked the handle off . At that point the dog inside started raising heck and scared them off . They sure are a fearless bunch until something happens that might catch the attention of others . I HATE a thief with a passion !

Once you are broken into - you always feel violated. The sign of the times are that it is going to get worse. I read if you don't have guns, keep wasp spray sitting around - it will carry a few feet and aim for the eyes. With our borders wide open and economy going south fast - there will be more theft and we have to protect ourselves better.

I am curious what part of Austin. I am Southwest. WC/Brodie area. We have had a string of teenager type shenanigans going on around here. I had the Cops over yesterday because me and my neighbors mailboxes were ran over. Found the Stolen vehicle around the corner.
