Microwave and laser based radar gun beams travel at the speed of light. The audible warning is at the speed of sound. Sorry, but I am a nerd with formal training in radar detection and jamming.

The best way to avoid citations that I have found is stay in the right lane as much as possible. When the alert comes on slow down. Identify what is setting off detector and proceed. You still have to stay alert and aware of ur surroundings.

        Best Radar detector?

Radar travels at the speed of light, not sound. Sorry I had to correct that error.

If you install one, wire it in behind the door post trim piece and it can't be seen behind the dark color across the top of your windshield.

Wow I wouldn't of thought.. Even if they didn't use them it's not a bad constant reminder..

I like my passport 9500ix. Alerts to everything. I don't drive fast anyways but do like the red light camera notifications. I do tend to roll through those!

We had to get within 5mph and when you do it on a few cars, it isn't that hard. Sometimes you can nail it.

What were the speed ranges you were seeing. Ex you could see one vehicle and say 53 mph then the next 90-95 or was it a more consistent range? Not calling BS anymore, I'm just curious how you can be that accurate.

I currently run an Escort passport 8500 and have for over 10 years. My next one will be the 9500 when my 8500 dies. They've saved me way more money than I've spent on the detector. Money well spent. And it's not that I always drive fast but if I'm in a group and we get shot with a radar gun, somehow I always seem to be the one who gets picked out. So I figure its one ace up my sleeve to make sure I'm less likely to be picked off.

you cannot touch the V1...this guy invented the passprot / escort and saved his best design after he got bought out. He is an admitted radar geek.

by far the best unit one can own...they are cool to watch even when not speeding. It tells you how may radars are out in front and behind you.

                          great product

If your watching the traffic movement, why are there not more tickets wrote for impeding traffic? It would help eliminate some RR.

You could write the citation for failure to obey traffic signs/ signals.
                            Slower traffic keep right.

                            Just saying.

My dad used to have one. He always said it would let him know when he was gonna get a speeding ticket.
