I have hunted ranches down in south Texas, the hill country, and Mexico where the deer were not a challenge either. Wait for the feeder to go off or corn a road. Go to east Texas and try that.

When I lived out in Crane back in the mid 60's you could not drive down to McCamey at night without seeing some on the road. They were everywhere.
Me and my high school buddy shot a bunch of them usually around the water tanks and windmills. Back then we could hunt about anywhere we wanted to.
