    Chilis and Sonic- No Guns

Couldn't the same be said for carry of any kind?

Why is it ok to carry a handgun but not a rifle? What's the difference? Both can accomplish the same thing.

I just grow tired of people calling folks who exercise a Constitutional right, idiots, whackos, etc more than anything.

Currently the only limitations to long gun open carry in the Texas Penal Code is that is cannot be displayed in a manner calculated to cause alarm.

And FWIW, as much as I don't like it, I do support the owner's of these establishments private property rights to ask that they not be brought there.

An unexercised right is more easily taken away than an exercised one.

I'm for folks doing what is allowed by law, but SOME of these open carry guys are hurting the cause.

Education and group planning stops this like any political venture.

I'm all for open carry, but I am not in support of the whackos shouldering AK's, AR's and other weapons which by their very reputation cause the general public to take alarm. Standing on street corners, traveling in mass to fast food joints, marching in rank or milling around in shopping malls.

All that is designed to do is cause alarm and get their picture on the TV, they are not helping the cause they purport to champion. They are causing the people who are on the fence about firearm ownership to rethink their position and in many cases force businesses to take a stand which is counter productive to that cause.

Some of those folks are well meaning and just caught up in the hype and some (I believe) are serving another master and using well intended people's own passion against them.

And some are just ignorant, spoiled children in grownup suits.

It does not bother me if I was at a place and people were open carry their long guns. I how ever can see the issue with the general public, and the restaurants have with this. Although its legal does not mean its the right or smart thing to do. I carry concealed everyday and intend to keep doing so. Would not go to places that have the 30.06 sign.

Wouldn't surprise me in the least to discover a gun control advocate financing these groups.

Went to Chilis tonight with my ccw as always, they still have the sign up that says the unlicensed possession of a firearm was prohibited. So all is good for a chl holder.
