If anyone reading has fenced before, would you have done it any differently?

What is the longevity of current non-coated fencing?
Seems very high... Thinking 10-12k per mile

man reading through some of these prices seems crazy... I believe price has inflated quite a bit with all the oilfield work down in STX....

A lot of people do four or five t-post in between metal post. We did 3 t-post in between every metal post. All 5 1/2 casing for h-braces and predator wire on top and bottom. Our was quite high at $18,000/mile, but we did have three water gaps.

When you say predator wire at top and bottom what are you talking about?

Predator wire on bottom and barb wire on top?

We ran that four pronged barbed wire on top and bottom.

Cool. The predator wire that I was talking about was the stuff that layed on the ground on the outside the fence.

Right at 2 miles in Coleman/Brown counties. There will be one small water gap, one gate, and the fence lines will need to be cleared. Other than that I just want a basic but well built fence.

I would def put more than just one gate. Maybe one on each side.

The only reason for me would be to open it in case of fire. I only have about 100' of road frontage total. I am surrounded on all sides (minus the 100' entry) by other properties.

Is there another reason im not thinking of? Here is the layout with the arrow pointing to the road frontage.

If you wanted to save some money, would do the clearing yourself and let a pro string the fence. Definately put a little extra in to get full galvanized, sta-tight, and good pipe. We are in rough hill country, so would kill for some of the prices above. Have done some small work and pens, but we're not far off from having to do some major replacement. Our fence is probably 30-40 years old - cedar stays and just 2 sections of goat wire - more 'deer deterrent' than deer proof.

Re: gates - I can see why you are questioning putting in more that one. At a minimum, would put the supported poles spaced for a gate on each side. Won't cost much if anything extra, and gives some options for sale or purchase of neighboring land, and you could cut at that spot in case of a fire
