Good catfish bait

I was able to skip out around 2 yesterday and hit the lake. This time of year I like using dip bait...usually Bill's or Catfish Killer. I was real low on bait so swung by Walmart to see what they had. They didn't have any Bill's but did have this stuff for only $3.70 a jar. It had the same consistency of Bill's but a little thicker. What the heck...I will give it a try.

I hit a bulkhead and 5 seconds later was reeling in a goodin! I was catching them on every cast! Not sure if it was the bait or I was in the right spot but regardless, I had a limit pretty darn quick!! Figured I would pass this on for you catfishermen.

Sweet. I have reports of limits on cut shad, shrimp, and stink bait this week. Must be biting.

This is what I use. And if you get a lil hungry, just pinch off a chunk and enjoy. It's a lot less messy and stinky.

Catfish Bait

1 large Peanut butter
8 bananas extra ripe
2cans cream of cheddar soup
1 cup thick molasses
3# flour.

Danny King is a great punch bait just use a treble hook and push it down into the bait and pull it out.

And they love leopard (striped) frogs. If bullfrogs, skin them first.

Good to know Johnny. I didn't know they had jarred bait. Looks like a storm moving in the last pic. I've always done well when it's been similar.

I have always done really good with Bill's, but I would like to try this stuff out. Looks like a fish fry waiting to happen. Nice storm rolling in too. So, do you just use a plain treble hook like you would on Danny King's or a sponge hook like Bill's?
