Different for each lake, but roughly 20-25

I used a sponge hook like you do with Bill's dip bait but this stuff is thicker so probably could just use it with a treble hook. I put a pinch weight above the hook to get it to the bottom....just drop it straight down along side the dock.

X2! No sponge to have to mess with. I wonder how it how they hold up against each other

This is what I use. And if you get a lil hungry, just pinch off a chunk and enjoy. It's a lot less messy and stinky.

              Catfish Bait

              1 large Peanut butter
              8 bananas extra ripe
              2cans cream of cheddar soup
              1 cup thick molasses
              3# flour.

Just bought all the ingredients for this...cost me $12.37 at HEB. I will put it to the test this evening and will report back. Maybe a live catfishing thread.

Awesome! Note... Purée the bananas, and just mix it on a big flat surface. Have someone there to sift in the flour

You might have gotten into someone's baited hole, or they clean their fish there and the cats know it! regardless, nice haul!

I just wish we had enough water to fish!

Hey you guys using these dip style baits, and this recipe for the bait, if you use a fluffed out cattail pod with the fibers fully fluffed out and mix it in with the bait, it will stick together very nicely and eliminate the need for a sponge. The cattail fibers are like cotton and help to keep bait on the treble hooks... been doin' that for years. Cattail has to be mature to the point it's beginning to open up and fuzz out. Just help it a bit and mix as much of it in as the bait will absorb.

Lake Conroe ? My sister lives in Walden but I have never tried the fishing there.

I am right there with ya, sure is tough seeing all the rain totals, gardens, stringers of fish. I drove out to lake cooper a week or so back pretty bad shape. I have pulled some slab crappie out of that lake too .

On the bulkheads on Conroe in my opinion good ole chicken livers seem to work best, but I have not tried all the new stink baits. Shrimp would probably be my #2. When I was a teen there was nothing better than Johnny Jumper Cheese Bait on Conroe but the supply was spotty and expensive. We tested every bait we could find fair a square and it always won out. Seems like it was $7.99 a jar back in the mid '90s. Havent seen it in years

Took 15 min to catch first cat. Caught on the homemade stuff. I call it sweet lips catfish dip bait.
