I have a son in 3rd grade. Wait till you see those spelling words.

I always find it funny when people talk about how poor the schools are. Tell you what, you do a report on an ecosystem and i'll compare to the one my son is currently working on.

Obviously there are some issues with public schools. We always hear about the worst staff members and doom and gloom....a lot of it warranted. That being said.....there are a lot of good things going on as well and quality instruction. Sometime that gets lost in the headlines.

Those are way harder words than what my first grader is learning.

Some of last week’s words were portion, September , carnation. She has gotten 100’s the last 8 weeks in a row so I guess they can do it but when I see some of the words on the test I know adults that wouldn’t pass the test.

Teach them to spell ridiculous correctly... THERE IS NOT AN E IN RIDICULOUS.

Whew, I feel better now, see it on here all the time and it bugs me for some reason.

My son is in first grade and has been taught "inventive spelling". Spell it how it sounds, and don't worry about the letters.
The sentence: Mi dad wurks evuri da. Is freakin correct! It's nuts

I help my first grade grandaughter with her homework every evening. It is mind boggling what she has to do. They're already getting started with geometry in math. I couldn't even do geometry in HS.

I guess it's not to hard. She came home yesterday and she made a 100.
