ANZA makes a large and small fillet knife. bone, elk, wood, micarta handle. last one i ordered ran about $80 for the large with elk handle.

It may not be fancy enough, but the Bubba Blade is great filet knife.

Cutco makes an Awesome filet knife. Last forever and has a sharpener on the back, grabber and line cutter. Its also adjustable, so it can go from 8" to 12".

For a custom one, Meshmover makes a sweet one out of files too, ask Blake.

You can't beat a dexter filet knife . I use 2 knives when cleaning fish. . I have a curved blade carbon steel knife that's great for cleaning reds etc . I also use it to skin deer and hogs . It's a dexter and I paid 14 dollars for it . Sharpens real easy and holds an edge . Only down side is you have to oil it . The other knife is a 9 inch dexter . I call it a skinning knife because I use it to remove the fish skin . She could buy a stainless dexter and have the blade Engraved with his name . I also fell victim to the dexter . That thing isn't much more than a machete.

I wasn't able to edit again but I meant to say the bubba blade isn't much more than a machete not the dexter .

I like those. Did Bubba Blade change the kind of steel they use because the one I use cant hold an edge for crap. I bought it several years ago. Pretty useless piece of junk.

The cutco fisherman solutions is a pretty good knife.

Really good based on my experience with mine. Don't think you can customize it though.

I've filleted a pile of redfish, trout, flounder and salmon with mine.

And also catfish. The sheath skinning pliers actually work!

Another vote for Cutco fishermans solution. Can get blade engraved. Black or orange no slip grip. Adjustable blade short is stiff extended it has flex. Sheath has gripper tool, stone, and line cutter. It's a really nice knife.

Used Russells my entire life but was given a cutco fishermans solution. It really is a good knife

Im not sure if they changed it, I only used one for about 4 months last summer. Cleaning around 50 sandbass and 5 hybrids per day for about 3 days each week. Would run them a few times through a sharpener I have and it never game me any issues. Thought it would be the first hand held fillet knife for fish that I would enjoy...until someone though they would enjoy it for me.

I am thinking they changed something. I tried sharpening it, had others guides try it and we all came to the conclusion the only thing good about them was the handle. Might have to gice it a new one another try.

you can tell him how ANZA's don't make good kayak fishing knives in the bay.
