What type of fish will be primarily cleaned? Your smaller fish just about any knife will work. For bigger fish stripers, hybrids, reds, etc, you need a breaking knife. For the money you absolutely can't beat a mundial breaking knife. They hold an edge and work great. Personally I wouldn't get a Bubba blade. The handle is awesome but the rest is junk. For a true custom knife you can expect to spend several hundred. I had one made last year and it cost me $350. Amazing knife though. You may talk to Conley Sims aka simsknives and see what he can do or one of the other knife makers on here. There are several.

      Filet knife

You can't beat a dexter filet knife . I use 2 knives when cleaning fish. . I have a curved blade carbon steel knife that's great for cleaning reds etc . I also use it to skin deer and hogs . It's a dexter and I paid 14 dollars for it . Sharpens real easy and holds an edge . Only down side is you have to oil it . The other knife is a 9 inch dexter . I call it a skinning knife because I use it to remove the fish skin . She could buy a stainless dexter and have the blade Engraved with his name . I also fell victim to the dexter . That thing isn't much more than a machete.

Search the classifieds for fillet knives. Saw one in there not to long ago made by a member that would be perfect for whites, crappie, and catfish.

It may not be fancy enough, but the Bubba Blade is great filet knife.

My neighbor is a Crappie Guide and all he buys is the $10 Black & Decker from Walmart. He loves them and if they break he's not out of too much money.
I like them too but prefer the Mr. Twister (green and yellow) since I'm so used to them and have a couple so I can't justify buying more.

Edit: I guess I should've read your post first
