Are you camping on the Taylor or up Granite Creek? I know that area really well...had a partial ownership in a condo in South Crested Butte for almost 15 years...I was hunting Montana, Saskatchewan, and Wyoming, and the Cochera area (west of Walzenburg) of Colorado back then and never hunted there...just used it for snow skiing several times a year and fishing in the summer...

Bill the camper looks better than what I normally stay in. I have a small tent that I'll bring in case we want to hike in and set up a spike camp for a night or two.

        Bill,

Agree with what the others have said, I would take 2 extra wheels. You never know what will happen on that long of a trip. I understand it is less than 20 feet but would look at borrowing a load balancing hitch w/ anti-sway. Saved my butt several times expecially on hills w/ wind.

If you have to put on a spare, it looks like you are going to need a jack. The side of the camper may cover the tire in the event you have a flat.

Lastly, the black weather stripping that runs from front to back over the top will be blown off on the way. I'd remove it before you start or you will be on the side of the road pulling the rest off.

        Great luck hunting.

BTW - My family used to have a place at Lake Berryessa back in the 70's. Couple of hours N of SJ.

ya might consider carrying a floor jack, instead of a screw jack, it's faster and safer. Hope ya don't need this bit of advice. Good hunting.

CO is not as big of an issue with the heater as lack of oxygen......take yer big sleepin bag and a heavy blanket to put over it and save the heater for awake time.

With a full size truck, you don't NEED brakes on that little rig....but they don't hurt.

Trailer tires aren't cheap, bias or radial. Take the trailer down and put the biggest one under it that will fit.....the taller the tire the slower the bearings turn.

            Happy hunting!

BigL, the inside looks a lot better than the outside. Wait till you see my domestic skills with the camo curtains I made from cloth from WalMart one weekend at the club. If you're sleeping in the fold down bunk on top of mine, I'm getting some steel angle iron and reinforcing the front wooden piece!

Cement Creek. My friend's house is down the street from the water treatment plant on Cement Creek Road, on the Slate River.

                  Bill,
Lots of good advice on here, and chances are you will be just fine. One recommendation I have (parents own an RV business) is to look up RV repair shops along your travel route. Print off this info and store it in the trailer. If you need something its nice to have a number to call and most will let you talk with a mechanic for free. I do advise having your friend hook up to it and tow it around the block a few times. I have hooked up to a used trailer before to take it to the shop....everything was fine until I used my left turn signal, that is when the trailer breaks locked up with every blink of the signal... Not fun at highway speeds.

                    Absolutely true and thanks.

I'm trying to find tires now since I have until Sept. I think I can get everything done if I pick it up Labor day weekend, my loving wife is gonna **** when I park that thing in front of our suburban house- picture Maureen O'Hara with the flaring nostrils in "A Quiet Man" with John Wayne .

All these ideas are great, it will give me a to-do and to-remember list.

I as looking for the second picture, and found this one too. The interior is in what a duck hunting friend called "1960s retro organge"

And when I bought it and got lots of great advise on TBH, I posted this before, I'll post it again!

Not your typical "Visit California" picture I admit, cattle and agriculture in the grasslands waterfowl area in Los Banos (actually it's Dos Palos east of 'Banos) in the central valley.
