10" of arrow ain't gonna recover many,,, ever... you need to pick them up on the ground after a complete pass through.... you need to make some changes, heavier arrow, more bow, different broadhead and or hit location,, high lung is a low percentage shot on hogsLast edited by xman59; 04-22-2014, 01:42 PM.

I still try for a quartering away shot and like CastAndBlast said, aim for the off-side leg. If you stick it in the offside shoulder 1/2 way up or lower, it will be a short trail to a dead hog. you'll likely hear or see him crash.

Everyone has a different way to kill a hog, and they all probably work. I would just remember that on the big pigs, shoot LOW and tight behind the shoulder or good quartering shot into the last few ribs where the shield will be less thick. I personally don't like trying to punch through the shield on big boars, but we do it plenty of times with the same end result.
Good Luck!
