The hard to lift bolt will be the most obvious indication.

The rifle only has + 60 - shots on it. He has the brass and look to be in perfect shape. Would it be already doing that at 60 shots or more?

That would depend on what loads he was shooting.

If it were me and that's the gun you want, I would have it reamed to SPC II dimension so you can shoot whatever loads you want to out of it safely. And I would want the most performance available from it and SPC II chamber will allow you to do that.

Just got off the phone with Remington. They said absolutely positively do not ream it on the 700's.

Of course they did. Talk to a gunsmith!

Just got off the phone with Aquila Custom Rifles. He said the same. AR's he said was a different story.

I'd like for them to explain why... What was their reason. Guys have been doing it for a while now.

In bolt action? They both said it was needed in AR's. They also both said for shooting factory loads in a bolt action it was a waste of money. Once again this gun will never see a military load. It's not for me.

What I needed to hear. They both pretty much said if I were to run a 115 close to the original 2675 fps from an 18 inch barrel they would do it.

I gotcha. It wouldn't hurt in other words. It would allow you to shoot the SPC II rounds, but if you're not worried about that it really doesn't matter. The bolt action can withstand higher pressures, but the lead is all that changes by reaming the action, allowing for higher pressure rounds.

What does that little gem weigh?

Ordered my 6.8 from Precision Relfex Inc, out of Ohio. Their rifles arent mass produced, and built with extreme quality. Looking forward to having some fun with it here soon!

Uuuhhhhh. Ya know I forgot to ask. Lol. With all that said if you fellas really think I should have it done I guess it wouldn't hurt. You have any idea about what it would cost. I try to find out the weight right fast.

Edit. 6.5 pounds without scope Chad.
