    scent concealment/elimination...

I know some guys are masters at eliminating/concealing their scent. (I've tried the whole scent free detergent and scent killer sprays routine with no luck)
I don't use after shave, anti-perspirant, I don't cut the cheese nor do I have abnormal body odor, but for some reason I've never been successful at it. Now, I will admitt that I've not been religious about it either... but I know guys who hardly pay attention to this issue and have been successful...

Now that I'm going to start Bow Hunting, this may be a problem. I'm looking for solutions and I need to know y'alls solutions and routines...

Also, Is it true that smoke (not tobacco) is a good scent cover up?

When I first started bowhunting I was really concerned with scent control. I have been bow hunting for 7 years now, and I don't even wash my clothes in scent free anymore. Keep the wind in your face, and make sure its not blowing it to a travel path and you are good to go. All the scent killer in the world can't hide your main source of odor, which is your breath.

I'm a believer in ozone. I don't use it in the field, but hang my clothes in a closet with the ozone machine running. Haven't been busted since. I still play the wind, but did before using the machine as well. Snake oil.....maybe, but I'm a believer!!!

            A few tips...

            1. Play the wind
            2. Don't wear hunting cloths except when hunting....ex: don't hang around the fire cooking bacon after the morning hunt....
            3. Wash your clothes in scent free soap
            4. Keep your hunting clothes in a big zip lock bag.
            5. If you have cedar on your property, cut a few branches and place in the bag with your clothes.
            6. Shower with scent free soap.
            7. Play the wind.....

He means to be sure that your scent is not blowing towards your ambush spot (feeder) and also that your scent is not blowing in the direction that the deer are coming from.

In the perfect world with the perfect stand, your wind/scent would blow in the direction that the deer will never be walking through.

I wash my clothes in scent free detergent and then place into my plastic hunting box with some cedar branches. Im sure to change after each hunt into regular clothes and then back again into hunting gear when its time for the woods.

My favorite scent control method is to spend 2-3 minutes backed into a cedar bush and rubbing it against all my clothes. I act like a bear and back into the bush and grab branches and twist and spin with them scraping against my clothes. I know that when I smell the cedar off me as I walk the last 200 yards to the blind that I did it well.

I use both an ozonics and an ozone generator for my clothes.... I'm a fan of both!

Yep....stand by the fire and go hunting.......have deer walk directly under my stand and never seem to notice......the old saying that lure makers make the lures to catch the fisherman and not the fish applies to hunting as well....my opinion of course

I wear rubber boots to keep my scent off the ground from walking in and try and play the wind, all the other stuff may help but I am not a believer.

I bought a scent smoker last year and was very impressed with the results. I had deer all around me, as well as down wind of me and they never spooked. I'm a believer now!
