Got water? Pulled up this old thread. Anyone still have the same lease or place? Any of these still working?
I hunt in northern Valverde county and tinker with my water trough some. Mixed results.

I agree with you saying there is a lot of overengineering going on. Do you have a filter or a screen anywhere. It seems like a small piece of trash could mess up the float operation.

Nothing like building a climate controlled snake den under my deer stand. I do look very carefully when I get near that tank. Enough room under it for some bad stuff to live.

I made my own animal resistant trough. I wanted a lot of weight. They have no problem getting a drink around the rocks.

Sotol, We run garden hose from holding tank to trough.
Just have a regular hose filter at tank connection.
Have a easy to remove connection at trough.
Rarely have an issue but easy to fix if you do.

that tank set up is similar to one of mine but i have it raised 2 blocks high and i catch water off of the stand roof. i run it through a 1 inch poly line for about 150 ft. that garden hose wouldn't give me the flow i wanted

Mine are still going strong since these posts. I have put two tanks in each feedpen to lessen the fill dates but they have been great for me. We use 6-10’ braided washer machines hoses. Keep the warnings from chewing a hole in them and allows for some freezing expansion. Still have the original hoses on both ...
