    How to draw in Axis??

Been seeing a herd of Axis deer about a quater mile up the road from where I hunt. Never any trail cam pics and land owner says he's never seen them on his place. We run feeders during deer season. How can I draw these suckers in? I'm not familiar with exotics at all and would love to kill one. This is Lampasas county by the way. Any tips would be apreciated

        Alfalfa

You'll have to get lucky and hope that they start easing your way also, but that's a pretty tried and true method to draw them in. It's got a very strong smell and they love it. Buy a few square bales and place them around your place.

Lots of axis in Fredericksburg. They generally travel near water such as creeks. They like to feed in fields in herds. Hay grazer fields and oat fields are always good for axis. They will eat everything a whitetail eats plus grass.

Alfalfa seems to be what the Axis on our place go crazy over.

I'm in Stonewall and have only had ONE in 8 years to come to a feeder and it was a female trailing her fawn. I have put out alfalfa twice in the last three years but nada. Could have killed a few if I rifled hunted but really want to bow hunt one. They don't live on the ranch but they come thru often and yes they love being on the open fields of wheat or oats. The hoochie mama sounds interesting as I get ready for elk season!!!

I tried the hoochi mama call a couple times... did not help with the axis, but did get SWARMED with little birds... all over the dang place, all around me. Had hawks come swooping in as well.

This is true. Yesterday while watching a herd of axis one of them bark/snorted and that typically causes the whole herd to run and never come back. I was predator hunting and I immediately hit the fawn distress call and they stopped. I then hit the yelp call and the axis grouped up and walked towards the call. This went on for several minutes bringing them to about 30 yards from the call. I think I stumbled on to something. Anyone else ever done this?
