Drink plenty of water and go for a walk or some other light exercise; anything to warm your muscles up. What you are experiencing is DOMS (delay onset muscle soreness.) Tuesdays were always my worst days whenever I was riding my bike for hours during the weekends.

Ibuprofen, etc is good as well.

By the way, what you eat after your workout is extremely important to avoid severe DOMS in the future.

Do a light workout to get the lactic acid worked out of your body

Yep...stretch and maybe do some mild physical activity (walking, dynamic stretching) through the pain. It'll loosen up just give it time

This. Next time you work out 5-6 hours after you work out do another light one, push ups, pull ups, anything to get the acid worked out before you go to bed.

I hear ya! I started working out again last week and I thought my muscles (what little I have ) were going to explode. You just gotta power thru it and keep going. I'm on my 11th day and hardly sore at all now. The lactic acid is the cause of the soreness. It'll work itself out but stretching, jogging, massage, etc will speed it up. Whatever you do, don't stop working out! That's what I did about a year and a half ago and I regret it.

Stretch and do light workouts for a week or two for conditioning, going heavy or trying to keep up with those that workout everyday is impossible.

All due respect, and I'm not trying to start a quarrel here, but do NOT do this. Not at first. Right now your muscles, joints etc are all inflamed and adding heat to it might make you "Feel" good, temporarily but you are doing more damage in the long run. Heat keeps your joints/muscles/body inflamed. Even when you shower, don't stand in scalding hot water for too long.

Ice your joints and every where else that it hurts. DO NOT use heat. Ibuprofen helps but too much of it can be hard on your liver, so take 2 a day for a few days with Tylenol. After a few days, drop the Tylenol. When the soreness becomes livable again, drop the Ibuprofen.

Walk after your work out, for as long as possible. If you can, walk at least 20-30 min after each work out.

When you stretch, do not "bounce" like you may have seen done back in the old days. Reach for your toes and hold it for a 10 count, then slowly move back into your starting position, before you go to the next leg, or whatever muscle group you are stretching. Bouncing is very bad for your muscles and joints.

                        Best of luck to you.

ICE BATH is the ticket. It's hell but amazing results. According to many top strength coaches who work with pro athletes, soaking in a tub full of ice is something that can make a big difference in the way your body recovers.
WHY IT WORKS: After a workout, your body needs to "repair" itself to prepare for the next training session. It does so with the help of blood vessels that bring oxygen to your muscle tissue while removing waste products of exercise — the most common being lactic acid. Too much lactic acid build-up can cause your muscles to function poorly and will often lead to fatigue. An ice bath will immediately reduce swelling while flushing lactic acid out of your body. When you sit in an ice bath — or when you rub a cup of ice on the muscles you just trained — the cold causes your blood vessels to tighten. This helps drain the lactic acid out of your tired muscles. When you get out of the bath, your muscle tissue warms back up, causing a return of oxygenated blood to help your muscles recover.
