Caffeine is a natural diuretic. Caffeine used in small amounts will actually increase hydration by allowing the muscles to hold more water, but were talking around 8 oz. of tea or coffee maximum. The way we drink tea and coffee everyday is doing alot more dehydrating then anything because the caffeine isn't allowing the muscle to retain water, I'm not sure if this is why people get cotton mouth but it makes sense. Sweet Tea is even worse.
The artiicial sweetners can also be causing the dry mouth. STAY AWAY FROM THEM!!! Use real sugar, just use less of it. Your body can't break down the artificial sweeteners like it can real sugar. So, you end up gaining weight with artificial sweeteners because your body stores it.

nonsense.
I can drink only tea for days and I'm not dehydrated.
On some of the hottest days in Texas, I'm working outside, and it is the only thing I drink.

Pretty sure the "dry mouth" that was mentioned, has nothing to do with artificial sweeteners. Think "cotton mouth".

Tea has caffeine in it... it is still primarily water. Over time caffeine will dehydrate you that's a medical fact. In your case your body has most likely adapted to the amount of water you're taking in from the tea. That's probably why you don't get dehydrated like someone who doesn't only drink tea would. It's not nonsense. Our bodies are alot smarter than we are. I do this stuff for a living.
