Another CHL Wait Thread

Mailed all my paperwork on February 19th and I still have this on the DPS site:

License Status: Application processed online. Concealed Handgun Licensing is waiting on the receipt of required materials. Once the application and materials have been received by Concealed Handgun Licensing and processing has begun, a more detailed status will appear on this page.


Should I be concerned that they did not receive my paperwork? I did not send it certified. I didn't think of that until I had already mailed it. How long should I give them before I try to contact them?

Sounds like we mailed around the same time. Mine says the same thing as of yesterday.

My renewal came just at a month's time.

The way the process your app is a complete JOKE.

It took mine 90 days on the dot.

My buddy who submitted his 2 WEEKS after I did received his in less than 30 days...

Don't kill yourself checking status... or waste your time calling, emailing etc...it will show up eventually...

You have got some more time on your hands, hopefully not too much longer. I did mine last year and it took over 6 weeks just for it to say they received the paperwork. I am sure your paperwork made it, but it is still in a pile of a crap load of other applications. I didn't send mine certified either, but I live in Killeen and it may have take a couple days t get to Austin... I hope that you made a copy of your full packet just in case it got lost. Once you get the message stating that they got your paperwork, granted you have nothing on your record and the site will update fairly quickly with all the follow on messages for the processing.

Just keep checking the website for your updates.

As you may already know, they are doing a full background check on you, even with the FBI. Now, when you get the message stating that it's in the mail and you go to try to purchase a gun, the gun shop will tell you that you are on a wait status for the purchase. That is because the system is kicking you back because of the investigation for your CHL. I know because it happened to me. I was shocked to hear that I was on a wait status, so I showed them that I just got approved for a CHL. Which they understood and I was good to go.

I sent mine in about a week before you did. On Monday when i checked they recieved it and said it is under review. Or something like that.

My wife and I submitted ours online around the first of February and also got our fingerprints around the same time. Well after weeks of waiting we called and they tell us that the receipt given to us by the fingerprint place has to be faxed in. Apparently they got the fingerprints but just needed a copy of that paper. We sent that in last week so here's hoping it won't be another two months.

I have the same status. I talked to them yesterday and she told me it is waiting to get attached to an application. Takes 30-90 days. If all is well after that approximately 30 days after the attachment I should see something in the mail. I don't know if this is right, only what I was told. I submitted my paperwork about the same time as you.

Like i stated above, sent my package in middle of February. Checked today and Background check complete and "Concealed Handgun License : Manufacturing Pending"
