So now on to the coons.....
I loaded up with banana moon pies, borrowed another trap, and thearrower bought two more himself giving us a total of 6 traps to set. After seeing what they did to my corn supply again, I was out for revenge....lol....
We did make some improvements on the cages and should solve my problems. I know it will cut down on my "spread" of the corn but at least it will all be there. There is still plenty that makes it out there.
We went from this...
To this 1" x 1/2" mesh....thought about 1"x1" but figured I might as well go tighter with these overachieving thieves.
So now for the trapping.....We set them both nights and while they have gotten smarter, we managed to take out 8 and then ran over one with the truck....(any means necessary...right..lol). They are getting a little smarter. We had to put rocks on the traps on night 2 because 3 of the 6 had been laid on their side to get the bait out.
If anything its a lot of fun and gives us something to do during the offseason. I just wish I was a little closer. Since the work is done for now, I'll probably sit out a night or two next trip.
