You know, I love Ted. As a celebrity he may be the most passionate supporter of our 2nd Amendment rights and our rights to hunt, that has ever lived. If he's not, it's a short list.
However, while I love and understand him, I sometimes wish he would tone down some of the "blood brother", "mystical flight of the arrow", etc., stuff when he speaks in public. I think people that don't know him, probably tune him out as a kook, when he goes off on those tangents. They, especially the younger generations, likely look at him as a 60 year old rocker that did one too many hits of acid in his younger days. And, they will make those assumptions at face value, without researching the truth on his positions.
I guess, sometimes, I just wonder how much more effective he would be if he tried to be more even keeled in his interviews. Personally, I think, with his knowledge, intellect, and passion, he could be a much more effective greater force on the national stage. But, I fear, it's only guys/gals like us that "get" him.
Just my 2 cents.
As far as his draft dodging, I'm not familiar with the details of this. But, I think we all probably did things, in our youth, that we would be ashamed of if it were posted on this site. People grow up, their opinions/beliefs change. While I don't agree with him dodging the draft (if that's true), I can forgive youthful ignorance.
However, if he's spouting racial slurs at concerts today, that is very disappointing. That does nothing to further "our" position or garner him any credibility with anybody over 20. Sometimes I think his "shock jock" mentality lets his mouth overload his arse. I think he feels that "shock" is the most effective way to get people's attention. And, that's a real shame, because he is very passionate and can be an intelligent, well spoken advocate for our rights when he wants to.
