When I was 16 yrs old (1984) Ted was cool
Now that I'm 40, (and much wiser) he doesn't do much for me due to his ...."shove it down your throat" antics.
I appreciate that he supports our troops, and also talks to kids about not doing drugs. I'm glad he is pro-hunting and supports the 2nd Amend.
But I refuse to respect someone who is a racist and uses it to his advantage to make money & promote himself.
At times, Ted is Ted's own worst enemy
just my opinion

Ok, I guess I'm totally out of the loop (what else is new) What has Ted done now? I have to say that I've been a fan of his music ever since the early 70's and I appreciate his stance on gun rights, hunting and several other issues but I've never heard of him being a racist. I know that sometimes his mouth gets the better of him and you have to wince at what comes out, please I need the info. Thanks

whakm,
I've seen TN 3 different times in concert... 1986, 1998, and 2005. His racial overtone has gotten progressively worse to where I won't go see him again. My choice as I don't care to spend $50.00+ on a concert ticket and listen to someone spew his political opinions and racial views repeatedly.
In August 2005, I saw Ted perform at the Biloxi Grand Theatre before a packed house. (This was the last concert performed at the BGT before Katrina). I had an idea what to expect during the stage shows since I had seen him several times before.
Lots of "whack em and stack 'em" , flingin' fire-lit arrows at targets, advocacy for the 2nd Amendment, and support for GWB are the normal things Ted preaches during his 2 hour show. I'm in favor of all 4 above and can live with "some" political references during a rock n roll concert.
What I witnessed and heard from Ted's mouth on 8-19-05 was very disturbing in my opinion. He shouted "nig_er" close to a dozen times and it didn't bother him one bit. What makes matters worse, several of the ushers and cocktail waitresses serving customers were African American. They were clearly in view of the stage (and TN) as he continued with the "N" word with no respect for anyone in the audience.
Even with this concert being in the Deep South (Biloxi) where Mississippi still flies the Confederate flag, there is NO excuse for screaming racial comments during any concert.
Sadly, many musicians today use concerts as a medium to profess their political beliefs onto the listening audience. Whether it's U2, Bruce Springsteen, Ted Nugent, or whomever , people are paying hard earned dollars to listen to a "concert" not a political laced tirade or a " I Love/Hate GWB "
... again, this is just my opinion as I do listen to some of Ted's older music (Amboy Dukes, Stranglehold), but do not agree with his public shows of disrespect.
It also bothers me how he purposely dodged the Draft, but that's a whole different issue with me and my relatives who served in Vietnam.

Well, I guess I learn new stuff every day. Are you sure he was using the "n" word( I hate that, why cant we just spell it.....no I wont)as a bad term or was it maybe he was using it as a term of affection. After all, if you ask all the rappers(white or black)that's what they do. Now understand, This is all tongue in cheek. I don't like that word anymore than anyone else but I figure I don't care what color you are, wrong is wrong. I also understand that Ted has done and continues to do alot of good things for alot of good causes but he does have one curse, he acts like an igmo sometimes. Now, what can you tell me about the draft dodging ? I have NEVER heard of this and I'm pretty up on most things Ted. Thanks for the info.

whakm,
i was in the 8th row from the stage (seat H 213) , pretty much up close and personal. small auditorium venue that seats roughly 1800 people. I've been clean and sober since 12-27-87, and clean my ears daily with Q-tips.Believe me, I know what I heard as it left me scratching my head thinking.. "Did he really just say that ? again and again and again ?? " I was embarrassed for those working (ushers , cocktail waitresses) that were subjected to racial comments as they were innocent and just doing there job.
regarding the draft: that is old news which has been discussed ad nauseum on the i-net for years . (wikipedia : TN or google : Ted Nugent draft dodger ).
In summary TN has stated and claims that 30 days before his Draft Board Physical, he stopped all forms of personal hygiene. The last 10 days he ingested nothing but junk food and Pepsi, and a week before his physical, he stopped using the bathroom altogether, virtually living inside his pants caked with excrement and urine. Thus warranting him a deferment and rejection in 1969. TN's Selective Service Records are also posted on the i-net if you search for them.
He later stated in a 1990 interview... "… if I would have gone over there, I'd have been killed, or I'd have killed, or I'd kill all the hippies in the foxholes … I would have killed everybody," .
Obviously Ted did what he thought was right for himself at that time. His choice. For someone who is so patriotic, I wonder how he would react if Rocco (his son) wanted to join the Marines and go fight in Iraq or Afghanistan ?
He has contemplated running for public office in Michigan on more than 1 occasion. Usually his past military record has ended any official entering of political office races.
Many Veterans do not take kindly to TN since some gave all and returned home in coffins draped with flags.
Based upon what I know and have experienced, I can only take so much of TN. my choice BTW, I am a Republican, voted for GWB both times, and supported the War in Iraq so we won't have any more 9/11 terrorist bombings in America.
