My wife got caught in a terrible sleet storm in Tyler yesterday. She was driving our 11 month old son to her dads house for a visit and called me absolutely hysterical because it was sleeting so hard she could barely see and lightning struck a transformer right by her car and "blew it to pieces".

Seen thunder snow and sleet several times. Very common farther north.

it was gone in the woodlands as fast as it came...
Cold rainy night and morning... Rain kinda saved us from frozen roads this morning... roads were very drivable from Woodlands to downtown.. (at least on Hardy.. I45 sucks with or without ice)

It's one of those new anomalies caused by globull warming...like the "polar vortex"(aka a cold front)

It happens in Texas more then you think. More up toward the panhandle around Lubbock, Amarillo and Dalhart. Wild.
