I think most people on here are only trying to help out and trying to make sure others don't get in trouble with the law. FYI if you want to have this thread deleted all you have to do is PM an administrater. I can't stand the little buggers either as they eat all my pecan every year. I hope they pass the law allowing us to shoot the with air rifles.

No season, no limit in Bell County. I just batter them up and fry them like chicken. Fine dining. For some weird reason, where I hunt you can't hunt them with a rimfire. Shotgun works fine.

So if it says no closed season. Does that still make it a game animal for that county?
            Im guessing it does.

No closed season means you can hunt them year round but bag limits are in place.

Not exactly sure what your question is ....

The way I read it is if there is not closed season, you can hunt them year around, as long as you have a hunting license and use the proper equipment. The license and proper equipment is the biggy. You pretty much need a license to shoot almost anythig in Texas. I remember a few years back somebody got in a slam for killing a mocassin in his/or parents pond without a license. How anybody found out, I have no idea. As to using an air rifle, Dig out your tpwd "Outdoor Annual" and start on page 58. You'll find your answer. I'm too lazy. If you don't have one, Walmart can fix you up with one. They're free.

OK. I gotcha now. That's a good question. Not sure if the book covers that. Might want to call the game warden in your county and see if he can clarify.

Well just looked and page 76 in outdoor book has squirrel as a non game animal. And says " these animals may be hunted at any time by any lawful means or methods on private property." And page 59 states nongame animals can be hunted with any lawful firearm, pellet gun or other airgun legally. Theres the answer
