Carrying your bow by the string. Thoughts?

I just got my new bow set up. Mathews Z7 Xtreme. Im going on a hunt next week that will require lots of spot and stalk. I see all of these guys carry their bows by the string and personally I just cant see that being healthy for the bow long term. I have a Primos bow sling that I will be using. Seems to me that would lead to string stretching, even slightly, among other things.

What are your thoughts? Do you carry by the string or other? Why?

I carry mine by the grip but carrying it around by the string every now and then would be no biggie to me.

I dont do it. I also have Primos bow sling. Good question though. Not sure if it matters. But to me its like carrying your guitar by the strings. Probably not a good thing?

Not me, it'll twist the string.

Exclusively. If you can pull it at 70 lbs, it can support its own weight.

Get you a bow sling or carry by the hand grip, not the string

This is a good point I had not even thought of. I would hate to be walking along and stumble on a pig or someting. Quickly draw up for a shot and notice my peep has rotated a little then have to let down to reset it.

carrying a bow by the string is not a support issue, its an alignment issue. Seems the smart thing to do would be to use a bow a sling unless you are in the stalk then carry by the grip. To each his own.

If 4-5 lbs. of pull creates an alignment issue, you have larger problems.

String or handle, I alternate however my hand feels while walking. No issue either way.

                          I agree with FND.

                            Listen to this man.

It's not going to hurt your bow. If you don't wanna carry by the string, don't. If you want to, do it.
