One more thing....you are focusing too much on the bad reviews. They list it as 4 stars on Amazon . You know as well as I do that anybody that has a problem gets on to gripe about it and only a small percentage get on when they work because they are supposed to work. Its still a 4 star item with that in mind.

Hell you go to a Ford or Chevy website and you'd think there wasn't a running Ford or Chevy on the road..

I just pull them out of the sides of the transmitter, scrape off the gunk with a knife and wipe them down with a wet rag.

Not at all here..slide in easily and they are on. . I'm not trying to get you to buy one, I'm just telling you it's just a simple push in here.

Good luck with whatever you chose.

Smart hit the nail on the head. I have had two versions of these units over the last 5 years. The only reason I upgraded was to get the longer range. Don't soak your probes and you won't have any problems.

x2 I don't have that many cooks, but so far mine has worked great. No problem with the probes.

DO NOT PUT THE PROBES IN WATER!! Just scrape and wash the ends. The place where the wire meat the probes should not get wet for optimal probe life.

Every single man should know his way around BB&B. One of my smarter moves was throwing away all of my stuff when I moved one time, and taking a lady friend to BB&B to get new bathroom, kitchen, towels, and linen stuff. As I was checking out, she said "we pay attention you know". I said "huh", she said "girls pay attention to these items in a man's house".

              She was right!

I ordered the Maverick 733 last week. Got it in Monday. Hopefully, I will get a chance to use it tomorrow. It's supposed to be the upgraded version. Got it on Amazon for $10 more than the 732.

Well, I just got back from Gander and academy. No dice. Should have looked at this thread before returning from lunch.

I will check out BB& B on my way home. They are close to me here in Round Rock.

if they don't have it... will check out the other places mentioned in Austin area... if noth ing else... Amazon.

                    Question for y'all.

do y'all just shut the BBQ lid on the flat metal braided probe wire? How is that done normally? under the lid, out the side?

I have a lyftyme BBQ if that matters.

                    thanx,

Every thing I've read says to simply close the wire in whatever. Door to the smoker, oven etc

Check Grainger as well. They have a hospitality division that cant be beat. Prices are more than reasonable.

I put a grommet hole in my WSM and am doing the same in my new offset. I don't care to close the wire up in the lid. If it was my only choice, I'd cut a small notch in the bottom of the open area so the wire could set there with the lid closed instead of having the weight of the lid on them.

My pit has a cheap thermometer screwed in the side of the lid. Would be a great place to put the wires. Thanx. forgot about that.

Sure didn't want to shut the lid on the wire... that sucker is heavy.

I been very pleased with my BBQ Guru.

Shop kamado and charcoal grill temperature controllers. Keep your grill cooking at consistent temperatures while cooking!
