    Yes, it does suck when Hughes Net slows things down. It is impossible to even get online.

      I've had Exede for about 2 years now. Speed is good...I generally get between 15-18MB/sec down. Up is a lot slower, but not used as much...maybe 1-2MB/sec. Only problem is that it is expensive. I have the 15GB/month plan for $79.99 and have gone over a few times. As stated above, they throttle it way back when you go over.

      Don't believe Dish and Exede/WildBlue are one in the same. Exede and WildBlue are owned by ViaSat. Dish is just a reseller/installer for them.

          I think 4g on your cell phone is about the same speed as sat internet. Others on here probably know. If you have good signals might consider using phone as hotspot. Cell data and sat data is about the same price.

            No problems . . . 5 yrs use . . only problem was a little overuse downloading Navionics updates for saltwater . . . 15GB . . .$80 . . . our only option out here . . . thumbs up . . . Hughes not recommended by anyone I knew that had it . . . good luck . . .

              I have hughs via dish and it Sucks! I was told I could get wild blue when I signed up but found out too late they switched it to hughs. When I call they tell me it is all I can get here. My next door neighbor has dish with wild blue... Go figure???

                Good thread. We get some local service that comes via radio signal. I never know if it's going to work, and if it does, how slow it's gonna be. I guess it beat dial up but not by much. At least dial-up is reliable.

                I'll give Exede a call.
