We live 8 miles out of town and have been using Hughes Net for the last 3 years and have finally said enough is enough. Looking to go with a new provider and came across Exede. From what I have read so far it seems pretty good, any of yall using it and if so what are your thoughts. Thanks.

Looked at 100 different reviews online and half the folks say exede is great and the other half say it horrible. I know for a fact that Hughes Net is HORRIBLE. Anyrate, thanks for the info.

At one time WildBlue purchased their feed from Hughes Net. The satellite providers are doing better with speed and bandwidth. I am not sure how many satellites are flying around up there, so they all may come from the same unit, just marketed different? WildBlue was only a reseller of Hughes Net and they were horrible for customer service.
You may want to check and see if there is any local wireless providers. They can get up to 20 miles depending on line of sight. Thunderstorms (thick clouds) will not block the signal.

I started with wildblue and then upgraded to their exede service which is a lot better we live in BFE and we qualified for some government plan that starts at $39 a month and comes with more usage and speed than their regular base plan, overall I am satisfied it works pretty good but the data limit is horrible when you get close to meeting your limit they slow it down so much you can barely use it but in the end it beats no internet at all

Yes, we've used Exceed for 1.5 years and Wild Blue for 10 years before that. Never had a lick of trouble with Exceed. It is mounted to a pole, which we figured was best because when we lived in an old frame house on pier and beam and the dish was mounted to the house, every time the wind blew hard or the ground shifted, we had to have them come out and reset it.
I've never lost service in a storm, but in bad storms our thought is we probably don't need to be using the computer anyway.
I've never, ever had a bad customer experience from Wild Blue/ Exceed. And all of their customer service res are in the US.

We have excede and like it. As stated above if it is raining hard it is interrupted for a couple minutes but starts back running good. The overall speed is good but if you go over your usage amount it will slow down so much you computer is useless. This happened once to us and we just went to the next higher usage plan. No problems since then.Last edited by quackaholic1; 02-10-2014, 02:03 PM.

Thats worth going with Exede right there. My wife is so sick of talking to Raji in Pakistan about Hughes Net bull, she is about ready to explode.
Thanks for all the input guys/gals, I think we will be dumping Hughes Net ASAP and going with Exede.
