    Another Trapping Question

I put in a set yesterday after work.I didn't really take any sent control measures. I check the traps this morning and found couch with in about 25 yards of the set. It was super fresh.

my question is how long should I leave it before I pull it a try another spot? I'm assuming with the yote so close to it there's a chance of something was wrong with the set up the smell something like that. I can't imagine he couldn't smell the set being so close.

I'd leave it alone at least another night. "Curiosity killed the cat!"

Leave it for awhile if anything make another set differently like flat set or dirt hole opposite of what you already have with different bait try that. I have traps I leave at the same spot all season but they continually catch

I caught a coyote last night in a trap that has been out for two weeks. Coyotes take time.........sometimes.

Put in another trap in a flat set 4' upwind of the scat do not use bait urine or gland lure only. If it's coyote it may still take a week or so for it to get up the nerve to work the set, if it's a cat it may be a week before it comes by again. Patience grasshopper and study your sets the animals will let you know when they come by and what changes may possibly need to be made, your not gonna get them every time.

                          Update..

So I checked it this morning and found that my screen covering the trap had been dug up. They did not dig anything around the trap except the screen cover. The pan was completely exposed but not the jaws or anything around. I don't know how anything could have done that, especially a yote without setting the trap off.

I wonder if I'm dealing with a bobcat.. I wish I had taken a picture. There wer no dig marks or anything. Just the screen removed and the pan sitting there. Crazy..

                          What say yall?

I pulled the set and moved it ten yards over and reset it
