wire, but I wouldn't tie it to a tree or a fence. Leg of feeder works or stake

Any certain way to tie it or wrap the wire?

I use a 3' section of chain and a couple master links makes them easier to move around.

I have lost three traps using the easy links. I had them finger tight, and that wasn't tight enough. rookie mistake.

I went to HD, and had lengths of cable cut aoubt 3' long, then put grommet thingys on them to make a loop at each end. looped around the leg, and looped around through the chain. No more stolen.

                  First pic is of success.
Second pic of failure- a coon track pulling his new bracelet in the snow.
Attached a pdf of a sketch of what I did. Amateur, but you get the idea.

                    I use a wire.

Feed it through the trap swivel and around the fence post/feeder leg/tree. Go through the trap and around the tree two times. Cut the wire and then twist it tight with pliers

Kind of what I am thinking. Seems easier to move to new locations

A picture is worth a few words, lol

1/8 cable with links at each end.... use pliers to make sure they are tight..

                        Makes your sets highly versatile.

Can you buy the cable like that with the links as sets, or do you have to clamp the links on yourself?

I make all of mine myself , bought a roll of 1/8 cable, crimping pliers and I buy as many links and aluminum stops as I need.

Good thing is you can make them whatever length you need..

And well you can use the same tools and wire to make your own snares with a few other parts...
