As to the price I didn't pay anywhere near 53k for mine. I got the Limited, not the Overland or the Summit. It would have been nice if the diesel came as an option on the Laredo but no.

I don't care what you look at there just doesn't seem to be what I would call an inexpensive car these days. At least not in 4X4 and especially if you add the diesel.

We also looked at the 4 door Jeep Wranglers and I was really impressed. They are roomy and don't drive anything like the old jeeps I remember. If you do your shopping you can have one of those for around 28.5K.

I think $53,000 was the sticker for an overland 4x4. Even with $10,000 off that's still $43,000. Some of the less expensive ones were around $49,000 or $50,000.

My thoughts initially, but it had an ECO setting that kicks in on the highway where it cuts it back to 4 cylinders. This worked a whole lot better than on my chevy pickup, where it seems it hardly ever drops back V4 mode running 80 down the highway.

Gonna wait a few years and buy one used.

The wife just picked up a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel... She got rid of her tiny Audi so she's loving the room and not breaking her back with handling the kiddo in the back seat. She got the works tho.... :/

Saw one of the '14s a couple of days ago, they are sharp looking, we have been thinking about trading in the Expedition, sounds like we better give it another year or so.

Wife and I have a Paid Off '08 Expedition and have been looking at the Grand Cherokee and the Cherokee. They're both extremely nice and comfortable. I loved the diesel option, but at ONLY 6 mpg better than the Hemi, coupled with an additional $3k price, it just didn't make sense for us at $.50+/gallon of fuel.

Go drive em and see what you think. We're going to keep the Expy for now.

It makes since for us. My wife would get 100% fuel reimbursement on the diesel, and only 65% on the gas.

I looked at an 04 or 05 a few years ago, and was really impressed with it. Once I sat in the drivers seat though, I had trouble seeing out the windows...they didn't seem tall enough, and I felt uncomfortable with the lack of visibility.
I'm just over 6ft tall....maybe it wasn't my height, and maybe it's improved since then.... If it's what you're wanting, I hope it fits you better. Good luck!
