Serious question...anyone in here signed up for the ACA? (Obamacare)...

Please don't make this political, It's a serious question.

    How was the experience?

What information do you need to have available when you sit down at the computer? I've looked for an online worksheet but haven't found it.

Has anyone's doctors posted signs that they won't accept ACA plans? I haven't been to the doctor but some of my wife's have.

I'm seriously considering giving all my employees raises and putting them in the program instead of continuing paying for company insurance. I'm still paying 100% for employee and family but the cost in regular insurance is getting astronomical.

    Any feedback would be appreciated.

From every news story I have read on the subject it is pretty much impossible to get covered right now. You can sign up, pick a plan, but now way to actually pay and if you don't pay you ain't covered.
Also seen many news articles, interviews etc with professional hackers who say there is nothing on the website to prevent anyone with little computer knowledge from stealing your identity. They ( the hackers interviewed) said to say away from the sites at all cost until there is proof steps have been taken to prevent this.
There are stories nearly daily about people receiving letters explaining their new HC and finding out it is thousands more than expected in premiums and deductables.
Much more than the an they had

I have looked at Obama care more than once and if you are honest with your answers on income there is no savings at all. It's for people with very little income. I have put in all kinds of income, and basically if you make 25k per year you can save about 100 to 200 hundred per month but with a 6k deductible, no drug, or Dr. office help. Pay first 6k out of pocket. Just my take from what I have researched.

I have an unemployed friend here in Cali who did it, he was on Cobra before from his last job. It was a nightmare of web sessions, phone calls, and finally working with somebody who was a Covered California broker.

At first if he entered what they were really making, it only let him register for MediCal, which is basic indigent and welfare-level health coverage through the county hospital. Then he goosed-up his imaginary income, and in the end it got him to a PPO plan offered by Anthem/ Blue Cross. But the 1,700 per month was written down to $600 per month with a tax 'credit', that he thinks the government pays directly to Anthem.

I've asked him multiple times, yes the web page says this and that doctor's office will accept patients with that coverage, but has he actually called one to see? He has not.

              Only person I know.

My wife signed up for it in December. After Trina was diagnosed with terminal cancer last Feb. and losing our insurance after she was fired we had to go to COBRA. COBRA is silly outragous. With Trina not working we lost her income we went to living on mine which is a little over 40k. It took about 3 weeks to get signed up and to make the first payment. Our COBRA was going up to over $1400 per month with a $6000 deductable. With ACA we pay BCBS $485 per month with a $6500 deductable.
I'm not sure what you need for employees but individual it is just basic info. As for Drs. all of her Drs and more are on the list. We use to have to use 1 specific hospital in Tyler now we can use either and we have more Drs. to pick from as we are now on BSBC.
ACA is higher than what we were paying for when she was working but is a heck of a lot cheaper than COBRA. We also checked for converage through the regular channels and was over a grand a month.

Glad it is helping someone. Couple questions, are you getting subsidies to bring the cost down to $485 and do you pay 100% for the first $6500 of the deductible?

Yes our base premium is $1014 per month and we get a tax credit of $530 per month leaving us paying $484 per month. Yes again we do have to pay the first $6500 but after that we are 100% paid for the year. With Trina probably going through chemo again this year we and her having another surgery this coming monday we will easly use more than the $6500.

                              Same here

I spent $50 at the doctors last year and $235 on prescriptions, why would I sigh up for health care that cost me $500 a month that I do not have. And then to pay deductibles and prescriptions and office visits, just seems like money thrown away.

Paying the penalty is cheaper than insurance for a year.

I just don't get how this is affordable for me yet!
