Most of the time we are out in the woods tieing things in and the base is set up on the nearest rd .. Most of the time we're a mile or better away , so if they want it it's gone .. Back in the day you would hire a young kid to sit there allday watching it but haven't done that in years ... And the sad part is 99% of the time it's other survey companies doing it ..

        Again, just a thought....
You would think the secon they turn it on you could drive right to it but no .. Now if they try to pawn it there's a chance I could get it back .. Or if I see one set up I could turn my collector on and create a realationship with the dome and the serial number will show ..

Sorry. I wish it did not happen for you. I hope law enforcement finds it for you. Just a thought and I know it is a long shot, but have you checked to see if your local TxDot office might have picked it up? If it was on TxDot right of way it may have been pulled up. I am a TxDot Supervisor and we tell our employees to pull up items in the right of way that are not supposed to be there. Usually illegal signs, illegal mailboxes decorations and all things such as that. It has to be put through many tests and such and be proven crash worthy to be on TxDot right of way. Anyways an employee who might not have known what it was and such might have taken into the maintenance yard. Usually it is just set out back to see if anybody claims it and we tell the owner on why it can't be on the right of way. At least that is how we do it. It is worth a try for that big of a price.

They can't use it. Was it TOPCON? No way to use it without someone finding out it's stolen.

It was set up on FM 99 in Karnes County . Worked out here for a couple years and never had it taken by thieves or TxDot .. Thanks for the thought though ..

Ouch! I can't believe the thing is a $15K GPS antenna and doesn't have some kind of locator.
