This is a picture of my PawPaw (on the right) and one of his hunting buddies Mr. Stuart, in Freeport. The deer were killed around Centerville at his deer lease in the late 50's or early 60's. I don't know the name of the lease or the lease owner, but the deed to the property was posted on the front door of the lease cabin. PawPaw was an electrician at Dow, and one year he had to work late on the Friday before opening day. He left just in time to get to there and head to the stand. On his way, he was pulled over for speeding. When the officer asked him where the fire was, PawPaw replied, "probably under the hood." The officer started laughing and told him to slow down, be careful and good luck.

My Granddad had a full career at Dow and retired sometime in the late 70's. He is 99 now and still lives in Lake Jackson. He has worked on every Habitat for Humanity house in Lake Jackson. They just got him off the roof a few years ago. He's a tough old bird.

Here is a few more pics of great grandpa.
He hunted all over N. America with his buddy Bill Foster. Bill opened a small bar/restaurant in N. Calif.
Due to the large number of animals in the bar Walt Disney and Howard Hughes tried to buy it with no success. Bill would not sell.
It is still in operation and can be seen here

Many pics of great grandpa there and the moose that is over the bar is one he shot.
My cousin who is an artiest painted this picture of the moose from that mount.

That's awesome. PawPaw passed away in '76. I had a lot of family that worked for "Daddy Dow".

These are some great pics. Next time I'm at camp I'll get a pic of the pic of my FIL's first buck back in the day. 12 years old sitting on a rock leaning up against a tree. Buck came by chasing a doe. He was so startled that he pulled the right barrel of his .12 gage, shooting straight up in the air. Swung around and shot the running buck in the back of the head. Since then he's switched to a Remington semi-auto 30.06 and singlehandedly thinned the whitetail herd of SE Oklahoma......all while smoking Kools.

My granddad with his first buck taken on fort hood. He borrowed the rifle from his friend. It was a 98 Mauser in 30-06.

Love the modified recoil pad on that gun

These are all some awesome pictures! Wish I could contribute but I don't know that my hunting heritage quite goes back this far.
