I tried a steak done like this, I didn't care for it.

I've never done it on a steak. Mainly just tenderloins and roasts

No you don't wash or brush them off, no they are not gritty at all, and no it does not taste like coffee.

First batch is out and gone. I left the coffee grounds on this one. I like it like this, the next batch we removed some if the grounds and spiced up the same. Should be out in a few.

Cooked at 500 for 5 min on each side and let sit for another 5 minutes before cutting.
