The only options I could offer is to buy another cape (I'm not a fan of that) or have the scull dipped in camo or whatever trips your tigger then have the horns re-attached.

Hate to hear of things like this.

So the cape is ruined then? I guess that is what I am trying to figure out first. I have no idea what the lifespan of a cape that is frozen is.

Did you have to go to his house to get it?
He met me at a gas station

You can definitely still do a euro mount. It may cost a little more to get it white but it can be done. Take the cape to North Texas Tannery and they can tell you if the cape is salvageable or not.

Euro still doable. Has the cape remained frozen?

I am not sure. It looks like it but who knows. Its just a block of ice.

I bet it still good to go. Go see Danny Lee in Benbrook. I have a buddy that takes all kinds of stuff to him. He can get you fixed up for sure.

Judging by the wrapping, I'm going to say the cape is freezer burnt, after 2 years. It's always worth a shot to see if it'll tan. If you do take it to North Texas Tannery, tell them the situation and tell them to halt work the second that they realize the cape isn't salvageable.

You could still do a euro, but I doubt it'll ever look like you'd want it to.

The horn discoloration is an easy fix. Don't sweat that.

I have an extra, tanned, blackbuck cape in my freezer, if it comes to that.

Is there a reason to keep a tanned hide in the freezer?

I bet it is still salvageable. I would follow TT's recommendation.

                              Why, yes, Rod, there is.

If it's a wet tan it keeps it hydrated.

If it's a dry tan, it will prevent acid rot.

Im going to do a euro on my blackbuck. It will be done by my Uncle Bob Wilkins who owns Wildlife Artistry near Cameron. If he isnt hurting for a cape, ill gladly give you mine if that helps.
