Make the extra money like you said you would, then pay for it. Oh, sell your old one to get the new one faster as well.

If both partners can be fair, honest and equal your system should work. From the little info here that doesnt appear to be the case. In my opinion in this case the allowance idea would probably work best. That will keep it even and assuage any hard feelings that could arise from any appearance of inequality. Make ANY extra stuff like nails, hair, arrows, bows and ammo etc come from allowance and see how that goes. Honestly, in my case it would lessen the amount of money I could personally spend, so I would rather not use that system here, but I flat out admit I spend more than she does so when the time comes that she wants something I suck it up and she gets it as long as we have the money. If I get selfish ( and I struggle with this ) then I will end up screwing myself over by restricting my own spending, so wise man keep mouth shut!

Robby, go get that bow if you want it. YOU are working extra to pay for it. If she wants to donate extra money to bills by working extra jobs, she can go find a part time job. Not everything in our lives are "needs". No one NEEDS two bows but if you can work extra and pay for one, more power to you.
I really do think there needs to be separate accounts. I will never have a joint account without having my own as well. If she's getting pedis and manis and haircuts and we all know how much those cost.....what's good for the goose is good for the gander.
