Each situation is different but I would give $10K not to have to commute an hour each way each day.

Kinda what I was thinking. 10k is not enough extra/year for me to be away from my family, and that's with me being 35 minutes from work now.

Don't know, my daily commute is 1/2hr to 5 hours each way.

I hate the idea. But here in Houston it is common for people to have an hour commute especially if you live in the suburbs.

The loss of family time and increase in stress levels from driving an hour each way wasn't worth the extra money I was making. I quit and took a job in my home town and it's been great.

I struggle with it. I was given a new duty assignment after we got the new house. So, three hours on the road is three hours less time with my son. It stinks. When I get home it is time for dinner, bath, and bed. Ain't no way to live.

Don`t do it. I did it for several years only because I had 20 plus years with the company I was working for and the location I was working at closed and I had to commute 60 miles one way. . The time you spend in a car just driving 60 miles to work and back in a year is staggering, let alone the cost. It will cost you 10,000.00 a year just to commute. Unless you could get some big promotion that would result in a sizable payraise down the road I would not do it.

For 3 yrs I traveled 64 miles to work. Worked 12 hrs then the long trip home. I would NEVER do that again for extra money unless I absolutely had no other choice. Opportunity would be the one big thing you should consider.

I drive 2 hours one way. Just do the math, if it is worth it then go for it.

I drive a hour each way now 5days a week. It's a big waste of time, but living in the city is not a option anymore for me.
Good thing about it, I get to start bringing my work truck home next week and they pay for the fuel cost. My fuel cost for my truck will be cut in half then since it will be parked at home all the time.

For me, it depends on distance. An hour of driving on or about the speed limit, I would do.

An hour of sitting in city traffic, is not happening.
