Guys, this is my spot he is leasing. The lease is awesome. P&Y potential is awesome. You couldn't ask for a better landowner. If I didn't have the opportunity to lease a good place closer to home I would stay on, $5 gas or not. For anyone on the fence, if you don't jump now you will regret it when you see what comes off this place this year.

I am interested PM me. I will be in San Antonio. Looks like a 3 hour drive?
I am new to TX hunting. It sounds like setting up a feeder is a must. When all is said and done how much does a good setup cost? Just curious.
Also what is the rule for friends/famiy? I have one good friend who hunts (he's in Idaho) and my 4 year old is getting excited about hunting.
Thanks

This is definitely a reflection of the economy. A year ago, this wouldn't have lasted 5 minutes.
It's pretty unfortunate. I would love to be on this place, and I would have jumped on it a year ago. This year, things are down just enough that I've been sitting on the fence for the last 12 hours since I saw this post.
The lease looks fantastic, and the price is right. I think it's the drive and gas that are killing most of us. In my case, I also hunt exclusively in Nebraska right now (and would not give that up - so this would be a second place), and I would have to add in feeder and corn expense that I don't have now.
If anyone has a good wrongful death case they want me to handle, just let me know and I'll sign up for this lease...

if the only reason you're not getting on a good lease like this is because of gas prices, I think you need to sit down and do the math.
you know the lease price.
you know you're going to buy food, beer, drinks, corn, misc hunting crap, bullets/arrows, c'mere deer, buck licks, protien feed, and whatever else.
last year, let's say gas was $2 a gallon, now it's 3.60 a gallon.... if you're truck gets 17 MPG, and depending on mileage (500 mile round trip equals extra $50, 250 mile round trip = extra $25).
an extra 50 bucks for a weekend of hunting and it's absolutely off the table? I understand you're paying more for gas on a day to day basis, but if you're just looking at the cost of a lease, the "extra" always seems to cost more than the lease price.
come on guys...Last edited by kyle1974; 06-05-2008, 10:52 AM.
